Wilpshire school boy Jack Esson (12) is celebrating after winning an adventure for his ‘amazing’ Dad James as part of the market’s Father’s Day celebrations
The competition asked children visiting the market to nominate why their Dad deserved a treat with the winner winning an adventure for him and the rest of the family at Outdoor Elements outdoor activity centre in Simonstone.
Jack, who has autism won after describing his Dad as ‘amazing’ and saying that as his autism sometimes makes him difficult to look after, his Dad always smiles and never complains.
Commenting on his forthcoming adventure, James said, “We were all thrilled to hear that we had won and we’re all looking forward to it. Being a Dad does have its daily challenges but a smile certainly makes those challenges a little easier to deal with. Jack and his sister Hollie are my absolute world and I’m proud to be their Dad.”
James and the family will be taking part in their adventure in September which will include a wide range of land and height activities.
Commenting on Jack’s win, Debra Houldsworth, Deputy Commercial Manager at Blackburn Market said, “We felt we wanted to give one special Dad a treat this year and James thoroughly deserved to win and we hope they have a brilliant time.”
