Traders at Blackburn Market are gearing up for Valentine’s Day by teaming up with Blackburn with Darwen’s Healthy Communities Partnership team to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
The fun and fundraising kicks off this weekend when shoppers will be able to ‘snap a selfie’ with the King & Queen of Hearts who will be meeting and greeting between 12pm and 2pm as they make a royal tour of the stalls and café areas.
On Saturday 1st & Saturday 8th February there is the opportunity for children to make heart shaped crafts, rose shaped windmills and valentines cards in return for a £1 donation.
For the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Ramp up the Red’ Day on Friday 7th February there will be a charity tombola with a host of red themed prizes and vouchers to use throughout the market.
Cupid himself will be presenting lunchtime shoppers with roses from the market’s Rainforest florist on Friday 14th February.
David Smith, Commercial Manager for the market said, ‘Ramp up the Red is a great opportunity to work with Blackburn with Darwen’s Heart Town team to raise awareness of the heart disease, to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and have fun at the same time. It’s also an ideal opportunity for all our traders to get involved by wearing red and promoting their red themed products through our really active social media channels.’
