The smiles shone through on Saturday (20 May) at a Kid’s Concert at Blackburn Market despite the spring showers.
A giant stage next to the market brought a range of performers to entertain children and visitors to the market.
As well as a singing prince and princess, children enjoyed free face painting, puppetry fun from Stuffets Puppets, the incredible balloon modelling skills of Bob Wooding and even a giant slush drinking polar bear!
Star of the show was set to be Katy Ashworth famous for her appearances on CBeebies “I Can Cook” but due to the closure of the M6 following an accident she was unable to reach the event on time. The smiles soon returned to the audience’s faces when Katy sent a personal message to let her fans know she will be appearing at the market soon for a meet and greet with her fans.
The events at Blackburn Market are part of an initiative to encourage people to visit the market with their families and discover the range of traders.
David Smith, Commercial Manager at Blackburn Market, said
“Despite the poor weather, the event was a great success bringing new people into the market to enjoy a range of special offers available on the day. We are thrilled that Katy has promised to come to see us soon and we hope that families will return to meet her.
“The market have a range of events planned for the rest of the year and we would encourage people to like our Facebook page so they don’t miss out on the free fun.”
More events are planned later in the year and Blackburn Market will be announcing the new date for Katy Ashworth as soon as the details have been confirmed.
