School is (almost) out, and free family activities are back in here at Blackburn Market.
We’re excited to be kicking off your summer holiday with two weeks of vibrant free entertainment that will provide unique experiences for all the family. Booking isn’t required for any of these events, feel free to come down when you can and take part.

Holidays in Blackburn Market – Week 1
Weds, 27th July, 12pm till 4pm – Create Together: Make Music with Steve Brown
Weds, 27th July, 12pm till 4pm – Create Together: Make Music with Steve BrownCome down to the Holidays Hub in the market to make music with Lancashire-based musician and educator, Steve Brown.
No musical experience is necessary, all are welcome! Steve believes that music can and should be made by all – enthusiasm is the only requirement.
Thurs 28th July, 12pm till 4pm – Make and Take Home: Colour Catching Bugs
This will be a make and take home creepy crawly activity ideal for anybody who loves to get crafty.
No equipment is needed, simply pop down to the Holidays Hub between 12pm and 4pm to join in.
Fri 29th July, 12:30pm & 2:30pm – Watch Live Shows: the Puppet Van Presents, The Lost Colour
The Puppet Van is a portable outdoor performance venue by Half a String, a theatre company that presents beautiful storytelling, amazing set design, and groundbreaking performance to audiences.
The Puppet Van will be bringing The Lost Colour to King William Street on Friday 29th July, with free performances taking place at 12:30pm and 2:30pm. It’s a dynamic and happy explosion of colour and energy with an abundance of clowning, puppets, and paint.
The Lost Colour is a family friendly show, specifically aimed at ages 5+ – we hope you’re as excited as we are!
No need to book, just come down and enjoy.
Holidays in Blackburn Market – Week 2
Weds 3rd August, 12:30pm & 2:30pm – Watch Live Shows: The Circus Runaways
The Circus Runaways is an exhilarating family friendly performance by The Circus House. It explores the stories of three runaways as they try to find their place in the world, and involves lots of incredible acrobatics, physical theatre, and much more.
Performances of The Circus Runaways will take place at 12:30pm and 2:30pm on King William Street, with each performance lasting approximately 30 minutes. No booking is required.
Be sure to drop by for a seriously exciting performance that will be a feast for your eyes!
Thurs 4th August, 12pm till 4pm – Create Together: Mindful Doodling
Doodling is a great way to be creative without any pressure or limitations, it can be very therapeutic and is the perfect opportunity to practice mindfulness.
This activity will be delivered by the Culturapeda team in the Holidays Hub, but the material will be inspired by artist and surface pattern designer, Amina S.
Come down between 12pm and 4pm to enjoy some creative stress relief.
Fri 5th August, 12pm till 4pm – Explore Mini Adventures: Crafty Cameras
This free activity will involve making your own crafty camera to then take along on plenty of mini adventures!
As always, no booking is required – simply drop by the Holidays Hub between 12pm and 4pm.
